For MacOS users, the installer places the game in a folder on the selected hard drive, you can move this folder wherever you wish; however this will mean that the installer will not be able to uninstall the game!
You can get the latest version by visiting our web page:

6. Gameplay
Do you still love the pure fun of the classic space shooters, but want a fresh twist?
Ever wonder what your favorite games of the old-school 80's would become in a 3D universe? Well, wait no longer, because the answer is Galactic Patrol!
Galactic Patrol is a new 3D homage to the classic arcade hits of the early 80's. The look and spirit of such legendary games as Space Invaders, Galaga, Phoenix, and Galaxian pulse through Galactic Patrol's 25 levels in over 300 waves of shoot 'em up fun. Reflex-burning top view action, frenzied side scrolling , and comin' right at ya' rear views are all here in this retro-styled alien invasion.
If you thirst for addictive 3D fun with a classic flavor, get your fix with Galactic Patrol! (Without even having to beg your mom for quarters...)
7. The Story
The dawning of the third millennium proved to be just as eventful as the second. A thousand years ago, nobody even thought we were going to be visited by Alien life-forms... and to think now we are going to war. We had always kept our distance. From the beginning it was clear there was something awry. Tensions had been brewing since the first Anti-Alien rally in the World's Capitol. The visitors seemed like they were trustworthy, but they wanted too much... too quick. Galactic surveillance proved efficient in discovering the secret army the Phees Gu were amassing. This was our only chance, to strike first. Armed with an arsenal of heavy weaponry and special power-ups, your mission is to break through enemy strongholds and exterminate all life before they exterminate you.
Your super duper rocket ship is equipped with state of the art equipment to help you in your efforts. Remember, the whole human civilization is depending on you. If you fail, no soup for you!!!
8. Technical Support
Before asking us for help, please see the section below ("Technical Help") and try to resolve your problem yourself. We are not a large company and every technical support call takes away from our ability to develop games. If after reading the technical help you still have questions about or problems running Galactic Patrol, contact technical support.
Be sure to mention the following:
1. Name of product (including if it's a demo)
2. Version of the product (ie, v1.0)
3. Operating System and version (ie, Windows 98 r2, MacOS 8.5.1)
4. Computer's make, model and speed (Gateway PIII 450, Power Macintosh G3 400, etc.)
5. Exact error reported (if any) & a description
EMail is the preferred contact method. Technical support can be reached at:
support@monkeybyte.com
9. Technical Help
Things to try first:
1. Be sure to use the latest version of Draw Sprocket (for MacOS) or DirectX (for Windows)
Windows DirectX: <http://www.microsoft.com/directx>
Game Sprockets: <http://www.apple.com>
2. Make sure you are using the latest version of the drivers for your video and sound.
10. Configuration
Galactic Patrol does not have a nice, snazzy interface for customizing your controls and other game play features. However; fear not because we did provide the ability to do this in configuration files. Specifically, when the game loads it looks for the file "UserConfig.txt". If this file exists, it is loaded and parsed. If the file is not found, the default settings take effect.
UserConfig.txt (and any other config file you create) can contain many commands. The best way to learn about these commands is to open UserConfig.txt in a text editor (ie, SimpleText). We've taken the time to list and document many of the available commands inside this file.
To turn on or off the use of a joystick type device, edit this line:
Joystick ip_Joystick //ip_Joystick = use joystick, ip_OFF = no joystick
To adjust how responsive the game is to mouse movement, edit the line:
MouseMove 3.0f // adjust mouse sensitivity (higher numbers are more sensitive)
To adjust key movement speed, edit the line:
MoveSpeed 700 // adjust keyboard sensitivity (higher #s more sensitive)
